Last night was the 9th annual Bet Awards, which was a special tribute to the king of Pop Michael Jackson who died thursday June 25 at the age of 50. The stars didn’t mourn the musical icon’s death they celebrated. The show opened with a peformance by the group New Edition that performed numerous Jackson 5 hits such as ABC and I want you back. Jamie Foxx was the host who reminded those present and those who watched from all over the world that it was not a night of mourning but a night to celebrate this legendary icon. The show had performances from Keri Hilson, Beyonce, Drake, The o’jays and various tributes to Michael. Neyo stunned the crowd, with his performance of “The lady in my life” . At the end of the show Janet Jackson appeared on stage to honor her brother,”My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful. To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family. He will forever live in all of our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love, thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much,” Janet said tearfully. The show ended with Jamie Foxx and Neyo perfoming I’ll be there. The show was one of the greatest nights to ever happen in award show history, I look forward to next years show.
