Just recently on the same day that Minnesota Timberwolves president David Kahn went to Spain to talk about Ricky Rubio’s buyout with DKV Joventut, he traded his only veteran point guard.
It was obvious that Kahn was clearing room for Rubio by trading Sebastin Telfair, Mark Madsen and Craig Smith to the Los Angeles Clippers for Quentin Richardson.
There is a multi-million dollar contract with Joventut which threatens to keep Rubio in Spain for another season or two. Kahn hopes to lower the number to make it easier for the 18-yr old point guard to join the Timberwolves this season.
Unfortunately under his current deal, Rubio would have to pay $6.6 million to the team to leave Spain for the NBA. The Timberwolves can only offer $500,000 to help Rubio under the rules of the collective bargaining agreement
The Timerwolves must truly see a champion in Rubio because they are really going through alot and giving up alot to acquire him, so he has to play better then the hype he has gained through his past on court performances. Free Ricky!
