Isaiah Bradley: The Black Captain America

80185-159074-isaiah-bradley_superNever have I seen such an iconic symbol in comic book history for black people. Isaiah Bradley really never served as Captain America, his appearance and accomplishments gives him the title among the black community.

Isaiah Bradley started out as a soldier stationed at Camp Cathcart in Mississippi in World War 2. The government was trying to recreate the Super Soldier Serum that made the original Captain America. They decided to use black soldiers for there experiment and Bradley was amung them. Many soldiers, including  Bradley, survived and were sent to Europe to fight the Germans. Their bodies were transformed to the peak of human potential, granting them abilities such as great strength, slowed aging, speed, agility, and endurance.

Isaiah Bradley was iconic among black super heroes as well as black political social figures of that time. He would be visited (in comic book history) by those such as Malcolm X, Colin Powell, and Muhammad Ali. He arrived as a special guest to the wedding of Storm and the Black Panther, several African-American heroes were awestruck, including Luke Cage who said He is the first me, Giant-Man , Monica Rambeau, Triathlon, and the Falcon. However,  Wolverine was totally unaware of Bradley.
