New Orleans and Charlotte have agreed on a deal that will send center Tyson Chandler to the Bobcats and center Emeka Okafor to New Orleans. Chandler was injured for much of last season. He averaged 8.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game last season. Okafor averaged 13.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks last season. He was also the Bobcats first ever draft pick and their only starting center. If not traded Tyson was due to earn $11.7 million next season. Last year Okafor had jus signed a six year deal with the Bobcats for $72 million. The Bobcats are giving up the better player in the trade. I don’t think Chandler will do anything that Okafor could not. As for the Hornets they are receiving a great player that will work well with Chris Paul. I believe this trade could give N.O. the push they needed to be a better team.
