Beloved film director John Hughes who brought us our favorite movies such as the Home Alone series, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and The Breakfast Club has died at the age of 59.
You may not have heard of the man himself but check out of his movies that I’m sure you’ve seen once or twice before
George Newton (Charles Grodin, The Great Muppet Caper) is generally a nice guy and has a loving family but he has a strict “no dog” rule. When a stray St. Bernard puppy wanders into their home, George doesn’t want to take it away from his kids, so he lets the dog stay and names him “Beethoven”. However, Although Beethoven is a friendly dog, he grows up to be very messy and hyperactive. A sneaky vet wants to use Beethoven as one of his psychotic experiments. As much as he is annoyed by Beethoven, George has to rescue his beloved family pet. The film was followed by a sequel about Beethoven’s puppies titled Beethoven’s 2nd and five more sequels.
Home Alone series
The first and second installments starred Macaulay Culkin (Richie Rich, The Good Son) as a smart-mouthed whiz kid named Kevin. In Home Alone, Kevin says some things he doesn’t mean to his family and the next morning they are all gone. They actually went on vacation and left him behind by mistake. Kevin thinks he’s living the good life until two goofy burglars, Harry (Joe Pesci, Lethal Weapon) and Marv (Daniel Stern, City Slickers) try to break into his home. Kevin has defend his house and sets booby-traps all over the place. The story continues in the sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. This time around, Kevin is lost in New York and just so happen, Marv and Harry are wandering around New York looking to make a quick buck. The films were followed by two crappy sequels: Home Alone 3 and a made-for-TV film Home Alone 4: Taking Back The House.
